Z-Communications, Inc. announces a new RoHS compliant VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) model CRO1878A-LF. The ceramic resonator based CRO1878A-LF operates at 1878 to 1879 MHz with a tuning voltage range of 1 to 4 Vdc. This high performance VCO features remarkable SSB spectral purity of -138 dBc/Hz @ 100 kHz offset and operates with an average tuning sensitivity of 5 MHz/V.

The CRO1878A-LF is designed to deliver 4±2 dBm of output power into a 50Ω load while operating off a 5 Vdc supply and drawing typically 25 mA of current. This low noise VCO operates over the extended commercial temperature range of -40 to 85ºC is further enhanced by pushing less than 0.5 MHz/V and pulling less than 0.5 MHz with a 12 dB return loss. The CRO1878A-LF features typical second harmonic suppression of -20 dBc and comes in Z-Comm’s standard, MINI-16-SM package measuring 0.5 in. x 0.5 in. x 0.22 in. It is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements making it ideal for automated surface mount assembly and reflow.

The CRO1878A-LF is well suited for microwave radio equipment and satellite communication applications that require low phase noise performance
